Choose your path: first project, labs or FollowBot

Choose a guided first plugin, an independent API lab or the three-part FollowBot walkthrough. You can always go straight to the API reference.

After this lesson

You know which project to build, which client to reference and what to do next. You do not need to learn the entire API first.

What do you want to build?#

DPB is the host application. Your C# class library supplies behavior through a small interface. You compile a DLL and load it into the matching client; you are not creating a standalone game application or a web API.

  • A plugin adds an optional capability. New to DPB? Build the nearby-enemy alert; for an area-observer lab, open Plugins.
  • A routine decides what to do when a bot calls its Logic method. The independent AcademyRoutine lab uses the supplied AcademyBot.
  • A mover plans and requests movement. The independent AcademyMover lab first previews paths without sending input.
  • A bot owns the session and drives its components. Build your own host in FollowBot part 1, then add tasks in part 2.
  • A task is a prioritized unit inside a bot, not a separate bot-selector entry. Learn task cooperation in FollowBot part 2, or inspect the read-only inventory task in Recipes.

You need a few C# basics, not expert knowledge#

  • You can edit a class, implement an interface and read an if statement.
  • You recognize a property, a method, null and a return value. The examples explain the DPB-specific pieces.
  • Use Windows, a supported DPB installation and access to your normal test client. The website does not supply client binaries or bypass normal client requirements.
  • An editor is enough for the first build. Visual Studio is optional; the kit includes a PowerShell build command.
Keep in mind

No game connection is needed to compile. Running an extension is a separate check and needs your working DPB/game setup.

Choose the product before downloading#

This page is showing DPB1. Its starter targets .NET Framework 4.8 (net48), x64, and references DreamPoeBot.exe from that same client's installation.

DPB1 and DPB2 are separate build targets. Similar names do not make their DLLs interchangeable. Use the product switch above to get matching snippets and API links. The DPB2 launcher executable is not the managed assembly to reference.

Choose one starting point, not all of them#

  1. First DPB project: follow the nearby-enemy alert. It includes setup and five checkpoints; you do not need to complete the area-observer lab first.
  2. Already have a build/load workflow? Pick a recipe or extension lab. AcademyBot is a supplied read-only host, not a bot you must implement.
  3. Want to own a complete workflow? FollowBot parts 1 → 2 → 3 build the same project. Understand the execution model first; movement comes only after the read-only checkpoints.
  4. Need a specific member? Use the API reference directly. None of these paths is a prerequisite for browsing APIs.
Check your result

You know which single entry point matches your goal. Complete-source labs and the build-it-yourself FollowBot walkthrough are different teaching formats.

What has been checked?#

The source kits were compiled against the public DPB1 0.3.29.47 and DPB2 0.4.5.88 assemblies. The website displays code extracted from those same original source projects, not separately maintained pseudo-code.

Compilation verifies signatures and references. It does not prove that movement, targeting or UI interaction will work in your current game state. The examples include a manual acceptance check for that next boundary. No live game execution is claimed here.

Keep in mind

AcademyBot, AcademyObserver, AcademySettings and AcademyTasksBot do not send game input. AcademyWorkshop is a separate, opt-in action lab. Read its instructions before selecting it.
